Weddings

Today more than a quarter of all marriages in England take place before God in the traditional setting of a Church of England church. You’re welcome to marry in church whatever your beliefs, whether or not you are baptized, and whether or not you go to church.

If you are planning to marry and would like to know more about weddings at St. Peter’s, please contact our Rector.

The Church of England also provides a form of service for those who have been married at a civil ceremony and wish to come to church as husband and wife to dedicate to God their life together and seek his blessing.

You are also welcome to come to St. Peter’s if you wish to give thanks for your marriage. Some people like to do this on a special anniversary. If you wish, this may include a simple act of renewing your vows.

“Marriage is a gift of God in creation through which husband and wife may know the grace of God. It is given that as man and woman grow together in love and trust, they shall be united with one another in heart, body and mind,as Christ is united with his bride, the Church.” (From The Marriage Service)
